Highlights:
- DJI Mini 5 Pro introduces a 50MP 1-inch sensor, the largest ever in a Mini drone
- Offers up to 52 minutes of flight time with an extended battery — longest yet for a consumer DJI drone
- Gains features from DJI’s Air and Mavic lines, including low-light obstacle avoidance and faster flight speeds
- Drone will not be officially sold in the US, but launches in Canada, UK, Europe, and Japan
First compact DJI drone with 1-inch sensor
DJI has officially announced the Mini 5 Pro, its first compact drone equipped with a 50-megapixel 1-inch-type sensor. The upgrade is a major jump from the 1/1.3-inch sensor in the Mini 4 Pro, doubling the sensor area and promising stronger low-light performance, 14 stops of dynamic range, and reduced oversharpening in vegetation. DJI claims the Mini 5 Pro can even outperform the larger Air 3S in certain close-range portrait and shadow scenarios.
Battery life sets new record
The Mini 5 Pro maintains its sub-250 gram weight while extending battery life to 36 minutes, two minutes more than the Mini 4 Pro. With an optional extended battery, flight time can reach 52 minutes — the longest ever for a non-industrial DJI drone. The extended battery, however, won’t be sold in Europe due to weight regulations.
Performance and features
Borrowing from DJI’s Air series, the Mini 5 Pro introduces improved low-light obstacle avoidance with forward-facing LiDAR, allowing safer night returns even without GPS. It can also memorize flight routes for safer takeoffs and landings.
Other upgrades include:
- Climb speed doubled to 10 meters per second (22 mph)
- Top horizontal speed increased to 42 mph (up from 36 mph)
- 4K120 video recording and expanded ISO range up to 12,800 (3,200 in HDR and D-Log M)
- Built-in 42GB storage, up from 2GB in earlier Mini models
- Wi-Fi 6 support for faster 100MB/s downloads
The drone also adds a new “48mm Med-Tele mode” for closer shots, a gimbal with 225-degree rotation, and automatic power-on when unfolding arms — similar to features found in the Mavic 4 Pro and DJI Flip.

Availability challenges in the US
Despite its global release, the Mini 5 Pro will not be sold officially in the United States. DJI has not set up a US product page or provided review units. While small batches may appear at US retailers, purchases risk delays due to customs restrictions. DJI states warranties may still apply depending on purchase details.
In other regions, prices are set at:
- $769 USD in Canada
- £689 in the UK
- €798 in Europe
- ¥106,700 in Japan
Bundles with accessories, controllers, and additional batteries will also be available. The new batteries and propellers are not backward-compatible with the Mini 4 Pro.
A growing gap in DJI’s US presence
The Mini 5 Pro’s absence from the US market reflects ongoing trade and regulatory challenges. With tariffs and restrictions shaping availability, the drone may become difficult to source in the US despite being one of DJI’s most advanced consumer models to date.
