The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of Clover Valley Instant Coffee sold at Dollar General stores in 48 states, including Ohio, over concerns it may contain glass fragments. The recall affects three specific lots of the eight-ounce jars, sold between 9 and 21 July 2025.
Products affected
The recall applies to Clover Valley® Instant Coffee, eight-ounce jars, sold exclusively in Dollar General retail stores across the US except Hawaii and Alaska. The affected items are:
- UPC: 876941004069
- Lot L-5163 – Best by 13 December 2026
- Lot L-5164 – Best by 13 December 2026
- Lot L-5165 – Best by 14 December 2026

Reason for the recall
According to the FDA, the action follows a customer report to Dollar General about a potential issue with the coffee. Ingesting glass fragments can cause serious harm, including damage to teeth, lacerations to the mouth and throat, or even intestinal perforation.
No injuries reported
So far, there have been no confirmed injuries or illnesses linked to the affected products.
