Rumors surrounding a possible sequel to Main Hoon Na have been put to rest after director Farah Khan publicly denied reports that Main Hoon Na 2 is in the works. The speculation had excited fans of the 2004 blockbuster, which marked Farah Khan’s directorial debut and starred Shah Rukh Khan in one of his most beloved roles.

In a statement to The Times of India, Farah addressed the chatter directly, urging fans not to read too much into online buzz. “Don’t believe in all these rumors,” she said, firmly dismissing claims that she was planning a sequel to the film.

Released in 2004, Main Hoon Na featured an ensemble cast including Shah Rukh Khan, Zayed Khan, Sushmita Sen, Amrita Rao, and Suniel Shetty. The film blended action, romance, and comedy, and went on to become a cult favorite, maintaining its popularity even two decades later. Its success also established Farah Khan as a filmmaker to watch, following her already celebrated career as a choreographer.

Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have collaborated on three films so far—Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, and Happy New Year—all of which performed strongly at the box office. Her most recent directorial venture, Happy New Year, was released in 2014 and starred Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, and Boman Irani. The film went on to become a commercial success, but Farah has not directed a feature film since then.

Earlier this year, however, Farah hinted that her long break from direction may soon come to an end. During a visit to actor Nakuul Mehta’s Mumbai home for a vlog, she spoke candidly about her future plans. Farah said she intends to return to filmmaking once her children leave for college, adding that there is even an online petition urging her to make a comeback. She suggested that she could begin work on her next film toward the end of this year.

In the meantime, Farah has found a new way to connect with audiences through social media. She began vlogging in 2025 after encouragement from her team, and her videos, often featuring her cook Dilip and their playful banter—quickly gained popularity, turning him into an unexpected internet sensation.

As for Shah Rukh Khan, the actor remains busy with upcoming projects. He will next be seen in King, directed by Sidharth Anand, alongside Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, and Anil Kapoor. The film is scheduled for release in 2026. Shah Rukh is also set to lend his voice to The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky, a fireworks show premiering during a cruise’s inaugural sail in Singapore in March.

While fans may have to wait longer for any potential Main Hoon Na reunion, Farah Khan’s comments make it clear that a sequel is not currently on her agenda—even as anticipation builds for her eventual return to the director’s chair.
