Private jet skids off runway at Mumbai airport, 3 injured

The plane, which had two crew members, was a VSR Ventures-owned one which was reaching Mumbai from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

A MAJOR disaster was avoided at the airport in Mumbai, India’s financial capital, on Thursday (14) evening when a private aircraft carrying eight people skidded off the runway, an airport authority spokesperson said.

The incident happened amid heavy rains with around 700 metres of visibility.

Three of the six passengers on board received injuries, said India’s Asian News International. Air traffic was disrupted at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport following the incident with arrival and departure of flights getting delayed.

“On 14.09.2023, M/s VSR Ventures Learjet 45 aircraft VT-DBL operating flight from Vizag to Mumbai with 06 passengers and 02 crew members on board, veered off the runway at Mumbai International Airport. The incident occurred at approximately 17:02 PM today,” the Mumbai airport spokesperson said.

The plane, which had two crew members, was a VSR Ventures-owned one which was reaching Mumbai from Visakhapatnam in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh.

The cause of the incident was not immediately clear.
