A long-awaited on-screen reunion
Fans hoping to see Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone together again may finally get their wish. According to reports, Ayan Mukerji is preparing a new film that brings the actors back on screen, marking their first collaboration since Tamasha in 2015.
India Today reports that the project is loosely based on Raj Kapoor and Nargis’ 1956 classic Chori Chori, giving the beloved story a modern setting while keeping its central premise intact.
A contemporary spin on a Kapoor legacy
The film will reportedly revisit the world created by Raj Kapoor, Ranbir’s grandfather, though not through a direct remake. Instead, the narrative will draw from the original’s spirit while adapting it to present-day themes.
The report adds that Ranbir is preparing to revive the historic RK Films banner with this project, making it the first film under the renewed label.
Deepika’s subtle online nod
Talk around the reunion intensified after a fan posted a video urging filmmakers to bring the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani pair back together, claiming the film would be a guaranteed hit. Social media users quickly spotted that Deepika had liked the video, further boosting speculation.
The actor was last seen with Ranbir in Tamasha, and their chemistry in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, also directed by Mukerji, remains widely celebrated.
Their upcoming projects
Ranbir Kapoor is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, co-starring Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt, slated for release in August next year. He is also attached to Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.
Deepika Padukone is working on Atlee’s upcoming film with Allu Arjun and is also filming King with Shah Rukh Khan, set for release next year.
