The teaser of Ramayana has finally been released, offering audiences their first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. The teaser launched in Mumbai on Hanuman Jayanti, following an earlier unveiling in Los Angeles.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is a two-part epic retelling of the ancient Indian story. It features a major cast, including Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
At the Los Angeles event, Ranbir spoke about the responsibility of playing Lord Rama. He described the character as a symbol of compassion, courage, and righteousness. He also admitted that he initially felt unsure about taking the role, as he did not feel fully prepared. Over time, that hesitation turned into gratitude, and he embraced the opportunity.
The teaser has triggered strong reactions online. Filmmaker Karan Johar praised Ranbir’s look, saying he brings a sense of divinity and grace to the role. Siddharth Anand also appreciated the teaser and called it spectacular.
However, the response has not been entirely positive. Many viewers shared mixed opinions, especially about the visual effects. While some scenes look grand and visually rich, others appear less polished. A few people compared the teaser to films like Adipurush and 2.0, saying the VFX sometimes feels artificial.
There are also concerns about whether the film captures the emotional depth of the Ramayana. Some viewers feel that the teaser focuses more on visuals than on the spiritual essence of the story.
Adding to the conversation, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta posted a cryptic message online that many believe was aimed at the teaser, though he did not mention the film directly.
At the same time, some viewers have shared a more balanced and personal take. One opinion is that Ranbir Kapoor looks slightly aged for the role. While he does not look bad, he does not fully appear youthful either, which makes the casting feel a bit mismatched for Lord Rama.
On the positive side, the visuals are appreciated. Several shots stand out as impressive and visually striking. However, considering the reported $480-500 million budget, some feel the scale does not fully match expectations. The teaser looks good, but not extraordinary, given the massive investment, making it feel average in overall value.
That said, many agree that it is too early to judge the film based only on a teaser. At first glance, it creates curiosity but does not completely wow the audience.
Overall, the teaser of Ramayana has received a mixed response—praised for ambition and visuals, but questioned for casting choices and execution. The final verdict will depend on how the full film delivers on its promise.
