Mumbai Police have launched a nationwide manhunt after a suspected member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang allegedly demanded $2.4 million from Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, warning of severe consequences if the ransom was not paid.
Police have issued a Lookout Circular (LOC) against Harichandra alias Harry Boxer, an alleged associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, in connection with the threat.
According to officials, Singh’s manager, Vijay Subramanian, received a threatening voice note from a man who identified himself as Harry Boxer. The caller allegedly demanded $2.4 million and warned of serious repercussions if the money was not paid. Police said the message included a chilling statement that “the next seven generations” would remember the consequences if the demands were ignored.
Investigators said the manager also received calls from an international number beginning with +340, believed to be linked to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Authorities suspect the calls were placed from outside India.
In the voice note, the caller allegedly referred to both Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Rohit Shetty, telling them to “get in line.” He also reportedly claimed responsibility, along with associates, for firing incidents in Portugal and at Marina Grand and Sukhdev’s shop. These claims are currently being verified by investigators.
After receiving the audio message, Mumbai Police shared it with Punjab and Haryana Police, who confirmed that the voice allegedly matches that of Harry Boxer. Following this verification, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered.
Based on Subramanian’s complaint, the Mumbai Cyber Police filed a case against Boxer, and the Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell joined the probe. Authorities are now coordinating efforts to trace the accused’s location and prevent further threats.
Security has been tightened at Ranveer Singh’s Mumbai residence, and the actor has been advised to remain cautious while traveling for film shoots and public appearances.
This is the second FIR linked to the Bishnoi gang in a related context this month. On February 1, a shooting incident was reported outside Rohit Shetty’s residence in Juhu. Police have arrested 12 individuals so far, including alleged shooter Deepak Sharma, who is accused of opening fire at Shetty’s home on instructions from the Shubham Lonkar group.
Investigations are ongoing, and police say efforts are underway to apprehend Harry Boxer at the earliest.
