Salman Khan has offered a candid explanation for why he has never married, admitting that the decision ultimately came down to him. Appearing on the season premiere of Koffee With Karan 9, the Bollywood star reflected on his single life and explained why he has no one else to blame for remaining unmarried.

Khan appeared on the couch alongside actress Karisma Kapoor, with host Karan Johar revisiting conversations about relationships, marriage, and the choices they have made in their personal lives.

Salman Khan explains why he never married

During the conversation, Johar recalled an earlier interview in which Aamir Khan had joked about tying Salman’s hands and feet to get him married. Salman responded with a joke of his own, saying he would do the same to Aamir to make sure his friend never married again.

Johar then pointed out that Aamir had been married three times, while Salman had remained unmarried. Salman said he was happy for his friend and added, “I am doing fine.”

When Johar asked whether he ever felt lonely without a life partner, Salman said he was fortunate to have his mother and two children in his life, although he also made a future-facing remark about parenthood.

“I will have children at some given point in time,” he said.

Salman also explained why he prefers to keep his romantic relationships private. He said he does not want to discuss someone he is dating because the relationship might not last, and the person could eventually marry someone else.

Recalling advice from his father, screenwriter Salim Khan, Salman compared private life to a bedroom and public life to a living room. He explained that matters meant to remain private should not be brought into public discussion.

Salman Khan says he has no one else to blame

The actor was direct when discussing his decision to remain unmarried, telling Johar that neither of them could blame the world for their relationship circumstances.

“Nobody stopped you. Nobody stopped me. It's just that you stopped yourself, and I stopped myself,” Salman said.

He added that he could not claim that the world had prevented him from finding a partner. Instead, he accepted responsibility for his own choices.

“I can't blame anyone. It's my decision, and I am happy with that decision. But yes, kids will come in,” he concluded.

Salman's comments offered a rare glimpse into how he views his unmarried life, while making clear that he is comfortable with the choices he has made and still sees children in his future.
