SpongeBob arrives in Fortnite
Epic Games adds SpongeBob SquarePants to Fortnite, extending the game’s long list of pop culture crossovers. The character appears as a Sidekick rather than a playable skin, allowing players to bring SpongeBob into matches without using him as a combat character.
The Fortnite debut follows several other game appearances in 2025. SpongeBob features in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, a Tower Defense game on Roblox, the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 remake, and his standalone title Titans of the Tide.

Fortnite’s item shop includes multiple SpongeBob-themed items:

- DoodleBob back bling
- Kicks featuring Gary
- Golden Spatula Pickaxe
- Jellyfish Jam dance emote
- Sweet Victory jam track with the Goofy Goober guitar
Additional items sold separately include Patrick- and Squidward-themed Crocs and the Patty Wagon vehicle from the SpongeBob universe.

Bundle pricing in V-Bucks and dollars
The SpongeBob SquarePants bundle is priced at 3,000 V-Bucks, which typically equals about $26 to $27 in the U.S. store. The bundle includes SpongeBob, Sweet Victory, both pairs of Kicks, both emotes, the DoodleBob back bling, the Golden Spatula Pickaxe, the Goofy Goober guitar, and a matching drum set.
Items not included in the bundle add to the total cost. Patrick-themed Crocs and Squidward-themed Crocs cost 1,000 V-Bucks each (about $9 apiece), while the Patty Wagon vehicle costs 2,000 V-Bucks (roughly $18). With all add-ons, the full collection reaches about 7,000 V-Bucks, or $58 to $60, rising to around $64 to $66 if players also purchase the matching boost or trail.

Fan reaction
Online reactions mix excitement with sticker shock. While many fans praise the attention to detail and nostalgia, others note the high price point. Even so, SpongeBob’s arrival—complete with the Jellyfish Jam—adds another unlikely but fitting crossover to Fortnite’s expanding universe.
