The incident added to a years-long friendship between Kravitz and Swift.Actress Zoë Kravitz has shared a memorable — and slightly chaotic — story about how her friend Taylor Swift offered her home during the recent Los Angeles wildfires. Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers on August 12, the Blink Twice star recalled how she and her mother, actress Lisa Bonet, took refuge in Swift’s historic 1930s Los Angeles home for two weeks earlier this year.

Kravitz described the property as “beautiful” and something “you want to preserve and take care of,” which is why she aimed to be the perfect guest — but things didn’t go quite as planned.

A snake, a small hole, and big trouble

The trouble began with Bonet’s beloved pet snake, Orpheus. On Kravitz’s last day at the house, her mother was set to stay on a bit longer. As Kravitz was packing to leave, her mom called her upstairs about a “small problem.”

Bonet explained she had been washing her face while holding Orpheus and momentarily set the snake down. In seconds, the reptile found “a little hole in the corner” of Swift’s bathroom and began slithering inside. The hole, Kravitz noted, was next to a built‑in banquette with two drawers at the bottom.

The desperate rescue mission

Realizing the snake was disappearing deeper into the wall space, Kravitz pulled out the drawers, trying to reach in, but Orpheus kept sliding further away. Panic set in. She called Swift’s house manager for help, and he arrived armed with a crowbar.

In their effort to retrieve the snake, they ended up tearing apart the banquette, removing tile, and scratching walls. “We’re ripping up the tile, we’re scratching the walls … we completely destroyed Taylor’s bathroom,” Kravitz admitted with a laugh.

Breaking the news to Taylor Swift

Kravitz initially offered to quietly pay for the repairs and hoped to fix everything before Swift found out. She eventually called Swift to explain. Swift, however, already knew. “Is it the fact that you almost lost a snake in the house and destroyed my bathroom?” Swift reportedly said.

Despite the chaos, Kravitz said Swift was gracious, though amused, about the mishap.

A friendship built over years

Kravitz and Swift share a close friendship that dates back to the COVID‑19 pandemic in 2020, when they spent time together in London as part of the same quarantine “pod.” Over the years, they’ve been spotted at dinners and events, and Swift has publicly praised Kravitz’s creative work.

In 2024, Kravitz attended one of Swift’s Eras Tour shows in London, accompanied by then‑fiancé Channing Tatum. The two women’s friendship appears strong enough to survive even a home‑wrecking snake incident.

A wildfire stay to remember

What began as an act of kindness — shelter from dangerous wildfires — turned into an unforgettable story involving one of Hollywood’s most talked‑about celebrities, a beloved pet snake, and a historic bathroom remodel.

For Kravitz, it’s a lesson in how even the best‑laid plans to be a “perfect houseguest” can be undone by unexpected events — and how a friendship can endure a little property damage along the way.
