Despite viral rumors suggesting Yash Raj Films had shelved the highly anticipated Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan starrer, industry insiders confirm Tiger vs Pathaan remains in development, with War 2 and Alpha next in the spy universe lineup.

Recent rumors suggesting Yash Raj Films (YRF) had shelved the highly anticipated Tiger vs Pathaan starring Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have been debunked. NDTV has exclusively confirmed that these reports are “false,” with industry insiders affirming the project remains in active development.
The speculation began when viral reports claimed that YRF producer Aditya Chopra was reconsidering the project’s direction and exploring collaborations with different directors. Adding to the confusion, Peeping Moon, the initial source of the claim, later removed the news from their platform.
The Expanding YRF Spy Universe
YRF’s Spy Universe launched in 2012 with Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger, introducing the character of RAW agent Avinash Singh Rathore (Tiger). The franchise expanded with Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Tiger 3 (2023). Shah Rukh Khan joined the universe with his blockbuster Pathaan in 2023, which featured a special cameo from Salman Khan that thrilled audiences nationwide.
The universe now boasts several key characters, including Salman’s Tiger, Shah Rukh’s Pathaan, and Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir. Beyond films, the franchise has expanded into comic books, graphic novels, and video games, creating a comprehensive entertainment ecosystem.
What’s Next for YRF’s Spy Universe
While “Tiger vs Pathaan” remains in development, YRF’s immediate focus is on War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan reprising his role as Kabir alongside South Indian superstar Jr. NTR making his Bollywood debut. Kiara Advani will play the female lead in this action-packed installment.
Additionally, Alia Bhatt’s spy film Alpha is scheduled for a Christmas 2025 release on December 25, further expanding the universe with its first female-led spy thriller.
Fans of both superstars can rest assured that the dream collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan remains on YRF’s production slate, promising an epic showdown between two of Bollywood’s most beloved characters.
