Film announcement on PM’s birthday
On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, actor Unni Mukundan was officially announced as the lead in Maa Vande, a large-scale biographical film that will chart Modi’s life story. The movie follows Mukundan’s recent success with Marco, described as one of India’s most violent films.
Story and themes
Written and directed by Kranti Kumar C.H, Maa Vande will depict Modi’s life from his modest upbringing to his rise as one of India’s most influential political leaders. Beyond political milestones, the film is set to explore his personal struggles, values, and particularly his deep emotional bond with his mother, Heeraben Modi.
First look and actor’s statement
Mukundan unveiled the first look poster on social media, showing Modi’s hand writing on paper, symbolizing how his story will be brought to the screen. In his post, the actor called the project “a man’s story that rises beyond battles… to become a revolution for the ages.”
He added on Instagram that growing up in Ahmedabad, he knew Modi first as Chief Minister and later met him in person in 2023. Mukundan described the experience as deeply inspiring, recalling Modi’s words to him in Gujarati: “Jhookvanu Nahi,” meaning “Never Bow Down.” He said those words have served as a guiding strength in his own life.
A pan-Indian release
Maa Vande is being produced on a large scale with advanced technical expertise. It will release across India in major languages as well as in English to reach international audiences. The production team has positioned it as a global release highlighting Modi’s story on a wide canvas.
Mukundan’s recent work
Unni Mukundan, best known for his role in Marco, was last seen in Get Set Baby. With Maa Vande, he takes on one of the most challenging roles of his career by stepping into the shoes of India’s current Prime Minister.
