The long-awaited dream finally came true for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as they clinched their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title, and amidst the celebrations, Virat Kohli took a moment to honor his wife, Anushka Sharma. The cricket superstar shared a deeply emotional post during the victory parade in Bengaluru, recognizing Anushka’s steadfast support throughout RCB’s journey since 2014.
RCB’s historic win came on Tuesday night at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the team, led by Rajat Patidar, edged out Punjab Kings by six runs. The victory ended an 18-year wait for the franchise, a milestone that resonated deeply with both the players and their fans.

On Instagram, Kohli posted a heartfelt photo of himself with Anushka amid the jubilant celebrations. His caption reflected the shared struggles and joys both have experienced over the years. “I’ve seen it for 18 years and she’s seen it for 11. Suffered the same moments since 2014 and celebrated every close win and the madness of our supporters at the Chinnaswamy. We’re both equally relieved and since she’s a Bangalore girl too this is far more special for her. Together all the way through,” he wrote.
This touching message highlights not only the couple’s personal bond but also Anushka’s role as a pillar of strength during the highs and lows of Virat’s cricketing career and RCB’s rollercoaster journey in the IPL.
Despite heavy rains in Bengaluru, the victory celebrations kicked off with the RCB team gathering at Vidhana Soudha, where they were felicitated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The state’s Deputy Chief Minister, D K Shivakumar, warmly welcomed the players at the airport earlier in the day.
“Virat Kohli, from past 18 years, has given his youth, his experience, his love, and his heart (to RCB) and made our state proud. I stand here with the heartfelt support of all the youngsters of our state,” Shivakumar said, praising the team’s perseverance. “On behalf of the Karnataka government, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of them and wish them continued success. 18 years of struggle is not a small thing,” he added.
The much-anticipated open-top bus parade, which was initially uncertain due to traffic concerns, was given special permission by the Bengaluru Traffic Police and Karnataka government. The parade started at 5 pm, with the entire RCB squad riding from Vidhana Soudha to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, allowing fans to join in the celebrations.
Virat Kohli’s tribute to Anushka Sharma during this historic moment reflects the emotional journey behind RCB’s IPL triumph.
