Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan, who is fighting battles on a number of fronts, was on Tuesday (4) granted interim bail by an anti-terrorism court in Lahore in three cases.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader’s bail was extended till April 13 in the three cases including: Zille Shah murder case, arson, and interfering in state affairs.

However, what caught eyes at the time the veteran leader arrived at the court was a bulletproof bucket-like shield that he wore over his head.

It was reported that Khan, who survived an assassination attempt at a public rally in Wazirabad, which like Lahore is also located in the province of Punjab, arrived at the court under heavy security and the bizarre headgear was part of that.

A video went viral showing Khan, 70, walking towards the court with the bucket-like gear over his head while his commandoes surround him with black bullet-resistant shields. Two men were also seen holding hands and guiding the blinded leaders towards the court.

Netizens cracked jokes over the headgear with one calling it “the stupidest kind of security” and another as something not real.

Khan, who lost the prime minister’s post a year ago after losing a no-confidence vote, was shot in the leg when a gunman took aim at his container-mounter truck. The PTI chief recently revealed during an interview to a western publication that his right leg suffered a potentially long-lasting damage.
