The junior tennis scene is buzzing with talent from across the globe. Karki’s Breakthrough at Roehampton


Karki, a promising young player, recently competed at the J300 tournament in Roehampton. This event marked his first experience playing on grass courts, and he managed to reach the third round—a commendable achievement for a debut on this surface. His performance at Roehampton highlighted his adaptability and potential to excel on different court types.

 

The Qualifying Draw: A Blessing in Disguise

Although Karki narrowly missed direct entry into the main draw, he embraced the challenge of playing through the qualifiers. Reflecting on his journey, he shared, "Everything is connected, so maybe playing the qualifying draw was a good thing, and maybe the reason why I'm here right now." This positive outlook underscores his resilience and willingness to seize every opportunity for growth.

Family Roots and Tennis Inspiration

Karki’s passion for tennis is deeply rooted in his family’s love for the sport. Born in New Jersey and now training in Florida, he credits his father Trilok, who took up tennis while living in New York with his wife Kanchan, as his primary inspiration. "My sister (Naomi) started playing tennis too, then I just picked it up because my sister and my dad played it," Karki explained. "My dad is the reason I play tennis." This supportive environment has played a pivotal role in shaping his tennis journey.

With a strong family foundation and a determined mindset, Karki is poised for continued progress on the junior circuit. His recent experiences, both in qualifying rounds and on new surfaces, are valuable stepping stones as he aims for greater achievements in the world of tennis.
