A woman in Uttar Pradesh who had been declared brain dead by doctors made a remarkable recovery after an unexpected incident during an ambulance ride brought her back to life, in what her family is calling a miracle.
The incident involved Vinita Shukla, a head copyist working at the district court in Pilibhit. She had fallen seriously ill at her home, prompting her husband, Kuldeep Shukla, to rush her to a government hospital in the city. Due to the severity of her condition, doctors there referred her to Bareilly for advanced medical treatment.
Kuldeep admitted his wife to a private hospital in Bareilly, where she was placed on ventilator support. According to Kuldeep, doctors eventually informed him that Vinita was effectively brain dead and that there was little hope for recovery. They advised the family to take her home, explaining that once she was removed from ventilator support, the outcome would become clear.
Kuldeep requested that the hospital continue treatment for another night, hoping for a change in her condition. However, the next morning, doctors reportedly reiterated that there was no chance of survival and asked the family to take her home. Relatives in Pilibhit were informed, and preparations for her last rites had already begun.
Vinita was then placed in an ambulance for the journey back to Pilibhit. While traveling near Hafizganj in Bareilly district, the ambulance hit a pothole, causing a sudden and powerful jolt inside the vehicle.
Moments later, family members inside the ambulance noticed movement in Vinita’s body. Shocked and hopeful, they immediately rushed her to a private hospital in Pilibhit. Although doctors were initially reluctant to admit her, they eventually examined her after persistent requests from the family.
Once treatment began, Vinita gradually started showing signs of improvement. The neurosurgeon who treated her, Dr. Rakesh Singh, said doctors suspected that her condition might have been caused by a snake bite. Based on that possibility, medical staff administered anti-venom injections along with other supportive treatment.
Within about 24 hours, her condition began improving significantly. She was also referred to neurology specialists in Lucknow for further consultation.
After nearly 13 days of treatment, Vinita recovered completely and has since returned home. Her case has sparked widespread discussion, with many praising the medical team’s efforts while her family continues to describe the extraordinary sequence of events as nothing short of miraculous.
