Ranbir Kapoor once made a hilarious and unexpected remark during a promotional event for Imtiaz Ali’s film Tamasha, when Deepika Padukone was asked to choose between him and Ranveer Singh as the better actor. Deepika, clearly amused and slightly cornered by the tricky question, responded with a diplomatic answer, saying, “It’s like saying, do you prefer your mother or your father?”
The moment took a comical turn when someone from the audience asked who the “mother” would be in this metaphor. Without missing a beat, Ranbir Kapoor quipped, “I want to be the father,” sending the audience into fits of laughter.

She said, “I just feel like we are constantly comparing all the time—whether it’s films, actors, this co-star or that. We don’t have to keep comparing all the time. His personality and Ranveer’s personality and the different kind of work they do—we have to appreciate and accept them for the way they are.” Her mature and thoughtful response won hearts, reflecting the poise she brings to such delicate questions.
