Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu is once again making waves on the internet, thanks to his dramatic transformation for SS Rajamouli’s much-anticipated film, SSMB 29. Though the project was officially launched with a pooja ceremony in January 2025, the actor’s look had remained a tightly guarded secret—until now. A set of candid photos recently surfaced online, revealing Mahesh’s rugged new avatar, and fans can’t seem to get enough.
The photos, which began circulating on X (formerly Twitter), show Mahesh Babu in casual attire—black boxers and a beige T-shirt—sporting long curly hair and a thick beard. In the snapshots, he appears engaged in an intense conversation with his wife, Namrata Shirodkar, and a close friend. The unfiltered images highlight a dramatic makeover that fans believe is part of his preparation for the film’s physically demanding role.

Within minutes of their release, the photos sparked a social media frenzy. Admirers flooded platforms with praise, calling Mahesh’s transformation “roaring like a lion.” One fan wrote, “Lion Ready To Roar. Demi God.” Another chimed in, “That look… Sherrrrrrrr. A lion in his calmest form.” One particularly enthusiastic comment read, “The world is going to witness a new Hollywood hero.” Yet another tweet added, “Hey Mahesh, your role roars like a lion in #SSMB29 — fierce, fearless, and unforgettable!”
SSMB 29 is shaping up to be another cinematic spectacle from RRR director SS Rajamouli. After the massive global success of RRR, the filmmaker is diving into a high-stakes, globe-trotting adventure drama with Mahesh Babu in the lead. The story is penned by Rajamouli’s father and veteran screenwriter Vijayendra Prasad. It is reportedly inspired by the action-adventure genre, in the spirit of Indiana Jones.
The buzz doesn’t end with Mahesh Babu. The film also marks the much-anticipated return of Priyanka Chopra to Indian cinema. She is expected to play a major role alongside Mahesh, and fans are eagerly awaiting her performance. Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran has also been roped in for a crucial part, making the star cast even more powerful.
After completing an initial schedule in Hyderabad, the film crew was recently spotted shooting in Odisha. A leaked video from the set featuring Mahesh and Prithviraj prompted the team to impose stricter rules about phone usage during filming. Rajamouli, known for his secrecy around projects, reportedly clamped down to prevent any further leaks.
With a rumored budget of ₹1000 crore and a pan-India appeal, SSMB 29 is one of the most expensive and anticipated Indian films currently in production. While the official title and full cast list are yet to be unveiled, the project has already created an international buzz.
