Bollywood perfectionist Aamir Khan has officially confirmed his much-rumored collaboration with acclaimed Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Speaking during promotions for his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir revealed that the duo will begin shooting their superhero film in the second half of 2026.
“Lokesh and I are doing a film together. Ye film agle saal banegi. He is right now going to shoot Kaithi. So, next year, August-September we will start,” Aamir said in an interview with Just Too Filmy.
This announcement marks a significant moment for Indian cinema, bringing together Aamir’s pan-India appeal and Lokesh’s gritty action storytelling, known from hits like Kaithi, Master, and Vikram. Although plot details are still under wraps, Aamir confirmed the genre, calling it a “superhero film — a big-scale action outing.”
While fans are eager for updates, both Aamir and Lokesh are keeping further information tightly under wraps. However, industry insiders suggest the film will be one of the most ambitious Indian superhero films to date.
Sitaare Zameen Par to Follow a Unique Release Strategy
While the superhero film is still in pre-production, Aamir Khan is currently focused on his next project, Sitaare Zameen Par. The film, which touches on socially relevant themes close to Aamir’s heart, is also generating buzz for its unconventional release plan.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, the film is expected to open on approximately 1,250 screens across India. However, what sets the release apart is its dynamic model: screen counts will be adjusted based on real-time audience response.
A source explained, “The makers were exploring several release ideas, and the plan at the moment is to bring the film on approximately 1,250 screens. Aamir Khan is confident of the film, and is well aware about the change in audience dynamics, which is the reason why he is looking at a longer game than a shorter one.”
This approach reflects Aamir’s evolving understanding of changing viewer behavior in the post-pandemic era, emphasizing quality over traditional box office blitz strategies.
Aamir Khan’s Strategic Return to the Spotlight
Aamir Khan, who has always been selective with his projects, seems to be returning to form with a renewed focus on both experimental content and scale. From a heartfelt, niche release like Sitaare Zameen Par to a big-ticket superhero action entertainer with Lokesh Kanagaraj, the actor is once again redefining his cinematic journey.
With one foot in realism and the other in spectacle, Aamir Khan’s upcoming lineup could reshape mainstream Indian storytelling—blending sensitivity, innovation, and scale.
