Luxury watchmaker Jacob & Co has revealed its latest high-end creation, the Opera Vantara Green Camo, a one-of-a-kind timepiece inspired by Vantara, the wildlife rescue and conservation initiative based in India's Gujarat.

The bespoke watch was unveiled on Wednesday (21) and is positioned as a tribute to the ambitious project led by Anant Ambani, the youngest son of India's business tycoon Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani.

Known for its bold, artistic, and highly complex designs, the New York-based brand has once again pushed creative boundaries with this watch. The Opera Vantara Green Camo belongs to Jacob & Co's Opera collection, which is famous for combining mechanical watchmaking with musical and rotating movement features.

At the center of the dial is finely hand painted figurine of Anant Ambani, shown wering a blue floral short. The figure is flanked by miniature sculptures of a lion and a Bengal tiger, symbolizing the wildlife protected under the Vantara initiative. These detailed elements turn the watch into a storytelling canvas rather than just timekeeping device.

The case and dial feature a dramatic green camouflage theme, reflecting the natural environment that Vantara aims to preserve. This look is achieved through an elaborate setting of 397 precious stones totaling approximately 21.98 carats. The gemstones include demantoid garnets, tsavorites, green sapphires, and white diamonds. According to Jacob & Co, each stone was carefully selected and placed to create depth, texture, and a vivid forest-like appearance.

Jacob & Co shared details of the watch on Instagram, describing it as a symbol of stewardship and responsibility. The brand stated that the design reflects one of the world’s most ambitious wildlife conservation efforts, blending luxury craftsmanship with a message of environmental care.

The value of the Opera Vantara Green Camo has also drawn attention. According to a January 22 social media post by watch platform Watchopea, the timepiece is estimated to cost around $1.5 million. The price has sparked mixed reactions online, ranging from admiration for its craftsmanship to disbelief at its value. Some users praised its beauty, while others joked about selling it to invest in cryptocurrency.

The inspiration behind the watch, Vantara, was officially inaugurated in March 2025 by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The project is located within the Reliance Jamnagar Refinery complex and reportedly spans over 3,500 acres. It is home to more than 150,000 animals and includes a state-of-the-art wildlife hospital covering 100,000 square feet.

The facility is equipped with advanced medical technology such as MRI machines, CT scanners, and hyperbaric oxygen chambers, along with specialized care zones for elephants and other species. Despite public discussion around its size and private ownership, Vantara is widely seen as Anant Ambani’s most personal and passionate project.

With the Opera Vantara Green Camo, Jacob & Co has created more than a luxury watch—it has delivered a bold artistic tribute that merges conservation, craftsmanship, and high horology into a single statement piece.
