Deepika Padukone's Lady Singham may return in 'Golmaal 5' instead of standalone film

After facing criticism for sidelining female characters in his action-heavy cop films, Rohit Shetty introduced a strong female cop, Shakti Shetty, played by Deepika Padukone, in Singham Again (2024). During the film's promotions, Shetty had promised fans a standalone movie focused on the character, also known as Lady Singham. However, that project has not yet been officially confirmed.

Instead, the director has shifted focus to Golmaal 5, the next installment in his popular comedy franchise. The film will bring back Sharman Joshi, who was absent from the second, third, and fourth parts of the series.

It will also introduce a new character played by Akshay Kumar. Reports suggest that the movie will avoid a traditional romantic storyline, focusing more on comedy and ensemble performances.

While there may not be a leading female role in a romantic sense, sepculation suggests that Deepika Padukone could appear in the film as Lady Singham. However, her role is expected to be limited to a cameo appearance rather than a full-fledged part.

Deepika has previously worked with Rohit Shetty in Chennai Express (2013) alongside Shah Rukh Khan, which was a major success. She also made a special appearance in the song from Cirkus (2022), featuring with her husband Ranveer Singh, although the film did not perform well at the box office.

After joining Shetty’s cop universe as Lady Singham in Singham Again, Padukone’s character received positive feedback. While fans continue to wait for a standalone film centered on her role, her possible appearance in Golmaal 5 may serve as a continuation of the character’s journey.
