Social media has been buzzing with speculation after a video claiming that actors Dhanush and Mrunal Thakur secretly tied the knot began circulating online. The clip, which appears to show the two stars getting married in a traditional South Indian ceremony in Chennai, left fans shocked and excited. However, investigations and confirmations from reliable sources have now revealed that the video is not real.
The viral video shows Dhanush dressed in a white veshti (dhoti) with a gold border and a matching shirt, while Mrunal Thakur appears in a maroon saree, styled like a traditional South Indian bride. The setting resembles a lavish wedding ceremony, complete with rituals and decorations. Adding to the realism, several well-known film industry celebrities, including Thalapathy Vijay, Dulquer Salmaan, Ajith Kumar, Anirudh Ravichander, Trisha Krishnan, and Shruti Haasan, are seen attending the event.
The clip was widely shared with the claim that Dhanush and Mrunal had quietly married on Thursday (22) in Chennai. As expected, fans quickly began speculating that the actors had chosen to keep their wedding private and away from media attention.
However, a closer look at the video revealed inconsistencies. Several social media users pointed out visual irregularities, including unnatural facial movements and mismatched lighting, which raised suspicions about its authenticity. One user noted that actor Ajith Kumar, who appears in the clip, was reportedly in Dubai on the date the wedding was said to have taken place.
Sources have since confirmed that the video is entirely AI-generated. The realistic visuals were created using artificial intelligence tools, making it appear as though the actors were part of a real wedding ceremony when, in fact, no such event occurred.
Adding to the confusion were earlier media reports suggesting that Dhanush and Mrunal Thakur were planning to get married on Valentine’s Day, February 14. A report published by the Free Press Journal claimed the alleged wedding would be an intimate affair attended only by close family and friends.
However, those rumors were later dismissed. A source close to the actors told HT City that Mrunal Thakur is not getting married next month and that the speculation had no factual basis. According to the source, the rumors spread without any confirmation from either of the stars or their representatives.
As of now, neither Dhanush nor Mrunal Thakur has officially commented on the viral video. Both actors continue to focus on their professional commitments, with multiple film projects in the pipeline.
The incident highlights how AI-generated content can blur the line between reality and fiction, especially when it involves high-profile celebrities. Fans are once again being reminded to verify information before believing or sharing viral content online.
