The federal trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs took a dramatic turn as Bryana Bongolan, a graphic designer and longtime friend of Cassie Ventura, delivered harrowing testimony describing a violent encounter with the music mogul. Bongolan told the Manhattan jury that in 2016, Combs dangled her over the edge of a 17th-floor balcony at Cassie Ventura’s Los Angeles apartment, screaming profanities and threatening her life before throwing her onto patio furniture.
Bongolan recounted that the terrifying incident occurred after Combs arrived unannounced, banging on Ventura’s door early in the morning. She hid her girlfriend in the bathroom and stepped onto the balcony to “act casual,” only for Combs to grab her, lift her by the chest, and hold her over the railing for 10 to 15 seconds. “I was scared to fall,” she testified, describing the trauma that left her with a bruise “the size of a softball” and ongoing pain in her back and neck.
Photos of Bongolan’s injuries, including her wearing a neck brace, were shown to the jury. She told the court that the emotional scars remain nearly a decade later, with nightmares and paranoia persisting to this day. Cassie Ventura, who also testified, corroborated Bongolan’s account, stating she witnessed Combs pull Bongolan back over the railing and throw her onto the furniture.
Bongolan further alleged that Combs once threw a knife at Ventura during another violent outburst, and described a pattern of intimidation and abuse. She claimed Combs would frequently threaten her, once telling her, “I’m the devil and I could kill you,” during a confrontation at a Malibu photoshoot. Prosecutors argue that Bongolan’s testimony is crucial to the racketeering and conspiracy charges, illustrating a broader pattern of violence and control beyond Combs’ romantic relationships.
Under intense cross-examination, Combs’ attorneys sought to undermine Bongolan’s credibility, highlighting her past drug use and inconsistencies in her statements to prosecutors. Bongolan acknowledged a history of substance abuse with Ventura but denied being under the influence during the alleged attack. She also admitted to supplying drugs to Ventura and described their relationship as a “drug partnership.”
The defense pressed Bongolan on discrepancies between her testimony and earlier statements, particularly regarding the location and context of Combs’ threats. Despite repeated challenges, Bongolan stood by her account, insisting the trauma she endured was real and ongoing.
The trial, now in its fourth week, has featured explosive allegations from multiple witnesses, including Cassie Ventura, who accused Combs of years of physical and sexual abuse. As the proceedings continue, the testimony of Bryana Bongolan and others is expected to play a pivotal role in the prosecution’s case against Sean “Diddy” Combs.
