Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is all set to make his highly anticipated debut at the Met Gala 2025. Currently in New York, the Punjabi superstar shared a sneak peek of the prestigious invite in his trademark humorous style, creating buzz among fans across the globe. While most celebrities prefer to keep their Met Gala appearance tightly under wraps, Diljit broke tradition by giving fans a glimpse into the lead-up to fashion’s biggest night—minus the outfit reveal.
On Monday morning, Diljit posted a video on Instagram from his hotel room, flaunting his official Met Gala 2025 invitation. With a mix of excitement and signature Punjabi wit, he captioned the video: “MET GALA Tomorrow. Daso Fer Ki Paiye Kal Nu; Halaa Laa Laa Karauni An (Tell me what to wear tomorrow, need to dazzle everyone).” The video quickly went viral, not just for the reveal but for Diljit’s quirky commentary.

Diljit began the video by jokingly telling his friends not to bother sending him wedding invites anymore, as he now had the “real deal”—an invitation to the Met Gala. He showcased the front of the invitation and read it aloud, giving fans insights into the theme and guest list. The theme for this year is Black Dandyism, an aesthetic movement rooted in redefining masculine fashion with elegance, flair, and history. It fits well with Diljit’s fashion-forward persona, which blends traditional Punjabi elements with global street style.
In the video and his Instagram Stories, Diljit revealed that he would be seated with none other than basketball legend LeBron James and rapper ASAP Rocky—underscoring the exclusivity of the event. He also made a light-hearted reference to Vogue’s iconic editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who is famously known for her no-nonsense approach to the gala.
Adding a desi twist, Diljit chuckled about how photography was prohibited at the event, saying in Punjabi, “Can’t make reels,” a playful nod to influencers who live on Instagram content. One of the highlights of the video was his reference to the invite being strictly for one person. “Per person, per plate da hisaab hai,” he said, comparing it to the way Indian families calculate the cost per plate at wedding functions.
Fans were thrilled with Diljit’s humorous and heartfelt post. One commented, “Met Gala will have its first Sardarji Fashion Icon.” Another said, “Punjabi agay Met Gala,” proudly celebrating Punjabi representation on a global stage. Others applauded his creative storytelling, with one fan saying, “How do you come up with such fun ideas? You should write comedy films!”
The Met Gala, formally known as the Costume Institute Benefit, is an annual fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in Manhattan. The 2025 edition takes place on May 5. Besides Diljit, Indian celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, and Kiara Advani are also expected to walk the iconic red carpet.
As anticipation builds, one thing is certain—Diljit Dosanjh is ready to charm the fashion world, one “per plate” joke at a time.
