An emotional video posted by an Indian-American tourist praising the kindness of hotel staff in India has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention to what many users described as the country’s deeply rooted culture of hospitality.
The video was shared by Tanya Sangani, who was staying at Madhubhan Resort and Spa in Anand, a city in the western Indian state of Gujarat. In the clip, Sangani tearfully recounted how hotel employees went out of their way to help her when she suddenly fell ill late at night.
According to Sangani, she began feeling unwell after hours and contacted room service, unsure whether anyone would be able to assist her so late. Instead, she said, the staff responded immediately and showed a level of care that left her overwhelmed.
In the video, Sangani explained that a hotel employee personally checked on her condition and then drove out in the middle of the night to purchase basic medicine for her. The staff member returned to ensure she was comfortable before leaving, an act that Sangani described as deeply touching.
“I’m in a hotel right now in India and I’m crying over my forks and spoons,” she said in the video, which was widely shared on X, formerly known as Twitter. “They were just so nice. I’ve been really sick, and someone from the hotel actually drove to get me medicine. The people in India are so nice.”
The video quickly gained traction online, with users across social media platforms praising both the resort staff and Indian hospitality more broadly. Many commenters emphasized that such gestures are not unusual in India, but rather a reflection of everyday values.
“Welcome to India, this is the least an Indian can do,” one user wrote. Others shared similar personal stories, including instances where hotel staff prepared special meals during off-hours or checked in repeatedly on guests who were unwell.
Several users described the incident as “humanity in action,” suggesting it highlighted a sense of care and responsibility that extends beyond professional obligations. For many, the video resonated as a reminder of small acts of kindness that leave a lasting impression on visitors.
The viral moment also echoed recent social media posts praising Indian hospitality, including one by a traveler who described service at Indian hotels as “unmatched” when compared with experiences abroad. Such posts have sparked broader discussions about customer care, empathy, and cultural values.
While Sangani’s video focused on a single experience, it struck a chord with viewers around the world, reinforcing the idea that gestures of compassion — especially toward strangers — can transcend borders and go viral for all the right reasons.
