The Royal Challengers Bangalore versus Delhi Capitals game in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday (15) has caught headlines more for reasons outside the result.
Videos emerged from the ground during and after the match, which Bangalore won by 23 runs to keep Delhi winless so far in the tournament, showing two former India captains Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly seemingly avoiding each other.

While one video showed Kohli and Ganguly seemingly ignoring a handshake after the match ended, triggering speculation about the duo’s relationship which had reportedly soured after Kohli lost his India captaincy in one-day internationals (ODIs), another as emerged showing Kohli giving Ganguly an interesting stare.
Questions were raised in late 2021 after the captaincy of the ODI team changed hands from Kohli to Rohit Sharma. Both Kohli and Ganguly, who was the president of the Indian cricket board then, gave conflicting versions over what had actually happened.
Kohli also gave up his Test captaincy at the end of India’s tour of South Africa in early 2022. He had quit the T20 captaincy at the end of the World Cup in 2021.
Months after Kohli stepped down, Ganguly also lost his presidency of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
It was also reported that Kohli stopped following Ganguly on Instagram soon after the match between Bangalore and Delhi ended.
The ace batter was adjudged the man of the match after he belted 50 runs off 34 balls.
