Kojima productions marks a decade with major reveals
Hideo Kojima celebrated the 10th anniversary of Kojima Productions with a showcase packed with announcements. The highlight was the first trailer for OD, his upcoming horror project developed with filmmaker Jordan Peele and published by Xbox Game Studios.
The trailer, subtitled Knock, introduced actor Sophia Lillis in a tense sequence that echoes the style of P.T., Kojima’s infamous playable teaser for the canceled Silent Hills.
First look at OD: A new kind of fear
The footage opened in a dim room, where the player character lights candle-shaped babies as unsettling knocks echo from behind a door. The sequence ends with Lillis’ terrified face revealed in first-person perspective before gray, monstrous hands seize her.
Kojima, joined on stage by Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, teased that OD will push boundaries in gameplay and storytelling. “This is totally different, even as a system,” Kojima said. Spencer added that Xbox Game Studios is supporting Unreal Engine development, both on the visual front and behind-the-scenes technology.

Kojima’s obsession with fear
Kojima explained that OD incorporates real-world scans of eerie locations. “I want to go all over the world where there are scary places,” he said, half-joking about wanting to “scan a ghost for the first time.”
The subtitle Knock also ties into Kojima’s own phobia. “I’m really afraid of the knock sound,” he admitted. Peele’s exact role in the project remains unclear, but Kojima hinted at different creative approaches to fear within the game.

Physint
Kojima also teased Physint, his upcoming PlayStation tactical espionage title. A poster showed a shadowed figure holding a gun, alongside the tagline “Here comes the feeling.” Kojima described the project as “using technology even further than OD.”
Confirmed cast members include Charlee Fraser, Ma Dong-seok, and Minami Hamabe. The lead actor remains under wraps.
Expanding the ‘Death Stranding’ universe
The showcase featured several Death Stranding spin-offs:
- An anime series was revealed with new footage.
- A live-action film, produced by A24 and directed by Michael Sarnoski, will tell an original story in the same world.
- Kojima Productions announced an AR project with Niantic, billed as “like the real Death Stranding in the real world.”
A celebration with industry legends
The anniversary event also included appearances from game and film icons, including Mad Max creator George Miller, who congratulated Kojima on his career milestone.
Despite the packed lineup, release dates for OD and Physint remain unannounced.
