The man then sought the police’s help saying he was worried about his safety. But what he got in response from the police left the internet highly entertained.

The man deleted the tweet hours later, perhaps out of embarrassment, but its screenshot was already doing the rounds by then.

But now I m worried about by Safety, plz do the needful, plz help and Safe my life, Today they might be attack again: #PS D-Division Amritsar.”

In its reply to Dutt, whose Twitter bio said he is a right to information activist, the Punjab Police said, “Not sure what you were expecting on your unwarranted message to a woman, but they should not have beaten you up. They should have reported you to us and we would have served you right under right sections of law. Both these offences will be duly taken care of as per law!”

It also replied to its tweet saying, “You can visit the nearest PS and lodge the complaint.”

The police’s response left Twitter amused. Many social users used memes while one called the police “Best police”.
