A sudden exit message

Singer Neha Kakkar briefly told fans she was taking a break from public life, then removed the message within hours. In a now-deleted Instagram post, she wrote that she was stepping away from “responsibilities, relationships, work and everything I can think of right now,” adding, “Not sure if I’ll be back or not.”

She followed it with an Instagram story asking paparazzi and fans not to record her. “I request paparazzi and fans not to film me at all,” she wrote, asking for privacy so she could “live freely.”

The post that vanished

The message quickly spread online before disappearing from her account. Neha did not explain why she deleted it, and she has not shared any further statement since.

The timing, however, has drawn attention because it comes just weeks after heavy criticism of her latest release.

‘Candy Shop’ and the backlash

“Candy Shop,” composed, written, and produced by her brother Tony Kakkar, was released on Dec. 15, 2025, and features vocals by both siblings. The song crossed 23 million views on YouTube but also attracted widespread trolling.

Many critics called the track low in quality, while social media users mocked its lyrics and dance moves. Some also accused it of copying K-pop visuals and style.

Neha has not directly linked her break message to the song’s reception, but the backlash has fueled speculation about whether it played a role in her decision to step away.

Personal life in the spotlight

Neha married Punjabi singer Rohanpreet Singh in October 2020. Along with Tony, her other sibling is singer and songwriter Sonu Kakkar.

For now, Neha has gone quiet after her deleted post, leaving fans unsure whether her break will be brief, or something more lasting.
