GEERT Wilders, the right-wing parliamentarian from the Netherlands who has backed Nupur Sharma, a former leader of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) over her controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad that saw a backlash from the Muslim world, spoke out over the gruesome murder of a Hindu tailor in the city of Udaipur in the north-western Indian state of Rajasthan on Tuesday (28).

The leader of the Dutch Party for Freedom made a couple of tweets after Kanhaiya Lal was beheaded by two self-radicalised Muslim men in a busy market area in broad daylight in which he asked India to defend Hinduism and not to appease Islam. He also called India “a friend”.

“Please India as a friend I tell you: stop being tolerant to the intolerant. Defend Hinduism against the extremists, terrorists and jihadists. Don’t appease Islam, for it will cost you dearly. Hindus deserve leaders that protect them for the full 100%!” Wilders, whose anti-Islam viewpoints have made him a target of Muslim radicals, tweeted.

In another post, he said, “Hindus should be safe in India. It is their country, their homeland, it’s theirs! India is no Islamic nation.”

On the savage murder in Udaipur, Wilders said, “An innocent man was butchered to death for supporting #NupurSharma. Islamic terrorists are as violent and intolerant as their ideology and prophet Muhammad was. The only answer is that we ALL stand up NOW and say #IsupportNupurSharma, because they can’t kill all of us.”
