In a shocking turn of events, Rachel Gupta, the reigning Miss Grand International 2024, has announced her resignation from the prestigious title, citing persistent mistreatment and a toxic environment.

The Indian beauty queen, who made history as the first from her country to win the global crown, took to social media to share her decision and hinted at revealing deeper insights soon.

The 24-year-old beauty queen also announced that she will soon release a video detailing the “difficult journey” she experienced during her tenure. Her announcement has since gone viral, triggering a flurry of reactions online — ranging from support for her bravery to curiosity about the behind-the-scenes drama at the pageant.

However, the Miss Grand International Organisation (MGI) has countered her claims with a strong official statement. In their response shared on social media, MGI declared the termination of Rachel Gupta’s title and accused her of failing to fulfill her responsibilities as Miss Grand International.

The statement specifically cited Gupta’s alleged involvement in unauthorized external projects and her refusal to participate in scheduled official activities, including a planned visit to Guatemala.

MGI further demanded that Gupta return the crown to the organisation’s head office within 30 days, marking an abrupt and bitter end to what was once a celebrated victory for India on the international beauty stage.

Rachel Gupta was crowned Miss Grand International on October 25, 2024, during a grand ceremony that was widely celebrated across India. Her win was considered historic, symbolizing a new chapter for Indian representation in global beauty pageants.

However, her reign was not without controversy. At the same event, another headline-grabbing incident occurred when second runner-up Thae Su Nyein had her crown and sash stripped by the pageant director as she exited the stage, raising eyebrows over the organization’s conduct.

Rachel’s departure now adds fuel to the ongoing scrutiny faced by international beauty pageants regarding the treatment of titleholders and backstage politics.
