Advance bookings open for 'Coolie' in North America

With three weeks remaining before its worldwide release, advance bookings for Rajinikanth’s upcoming film CoolieCoolie have opened in North America, one of the strongest overseas markets for Indian cinema.

Bookings opened on 22 July, and early figures suggest a strong start. According to Venky Box Office, the film has already sold 4,570 tickets across 240 premiere shows in the U.S. and Canada, generating $128,000 in pre-sales for the 13 August premiere alone.

The film’s North American release is being handled by Prathyangira Cinemas, while Hamsini Entertainment oversees distribution in other overseas territories.

Global release set for Independence Day week

Coolie, a pan-India gangster action drama, is scheduled for a worldwide release on 14 August 2025, coinciding with the Independence Day holiday in India. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, the film is one of the most high-profile releases of the year.

Trailer set for 2 August launch

The official trailer for Coolie will release on 2 August, as confirmed by director Lokesh Kanagaraj in a recent interview. There will be no teaser, with the filmmaker stating the trailer alone will be enough to elevate excitement levels ahead of release.
