“I am a joke in my house,” said Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, leaving an entire auditorium in splits at the recent WAVES Summit 2025. Known for his charisma, charm, and unmatched storytelling, SRK once again showcased his wit during a panel discussion titled The Journey: From Outsider to Ruler.
The panel, moderated by filmmaker Karan Johar, also featured Deepika Padukone, and together, they delved into stories of fame, resilience, and personal transformation.
But what stood out most was Shah Rukh Khan’s candid and humorous take on being a father. Despite being one of the most celebrated actors globally, SRK admitted that at home, he’s seen as little more than a source of amusement by his children — Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan, and AbRam Khan.
“You know, you’re asked if it’s lonely at the top,” he said. “I would just like to tell everyone here — those who are young and have kids, even those who are my age and have kids — you will never be lonely if you can make your children laugh. And those who don’t have children, if you can make your parents laugh, you will never be lonely.”
He then added with a laugh, “My kids think I’m so funny, that even when I scold or try to discipline them… like I tell them, ‘You have to sleep by 10 o’clock,’ what do they do? They say, ‘Oh my god, S R K!’ So yes, I am a joke in my house.”
The audience erupted in laughter as the actor narrated how even his serious “dad moments” are met with sarcasm and teasing. Shah Rukh Khan’s openness about his family dynamics reveals a softer, more relatable side of the superstar that fans across generations admire.
SRK also recalled moments from the sets of Om Shanti Om, playfully mentioning how he even had to scold Deepika Padukone during filming. His comment added to the light-hearted tone of the panel while reinforcing how his nurturing, mentoring spirit extends beyond his home.
The actor, who often shares glimpses of his relationship with his children, has spoken previously about how fatherhood has transformed him. Particularly with his youngest child, AbRam, he says he has become “even gentler.”

“I have found a great friend in AbRam. He is a little mad like me — he jumps around, shouts, and plays stupid games. He will cover his face and say: ‘Papa, where is AbRam?’ The innocence of his game is very exciting,” SRK once said, highlighting the joy he finds in simple, playful father-son moments.
While Shah Rukh Khan may be a megastar outside, at home he’s just “Papa” — the man who cracks jokes, plays games, and gets lovingly teased by his children. His words at the summit were a perfect blend of humour and heart, reminding everyone that laughter and love at home are what truly keep loneliness at bay — even at the top.
