What the 2025 Snap Recap includes
Snapchat begins rolling out its end-of-year Recaps on Monday, giving users a personalized look back at how they used the app in 2025. The Recap appears as a short video highlighting moments from Snaps, Stories, and Chats, reflecting how users connected and expressed themselves throughout the year.
Users can find the feature by opening the app and heading to the Memories section, where a card labeled “Your 2025 Snap Recap” appears.
Part of a broader year-end trend
Snapchat’s Recap arrives as several major platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Duolingo, release their own annual summaries, turning year-end data into shareable personal stories.
How people used Snapchat in 2025
Snapchat shares new data showing strong growth in communication features. The company says users spend nearly 1.7 billion minutes per day on phone calls on average, an increase of almost 30% compared with last year. In the United States, more than five billion voice notes are sent during the year, up nearly 10%.
Group chats continue to grow, with the number of users sending messages in group conversations rising by more than 5% in 2025. Some users send more than 8,880 messages to their most active group chat.
Reactions, stickers, and emojis
Engagement tools also see gains. Chat Reactions increase by 44% over the year, with the heart emoji ranking as the most used reaction. Snapchat says three million more people use stickers to communicate compared with last year.
Recap launch amid storage concerns
The rollout of the 2025 Recap comes as Snapchat faces criticism over plans to charge for additional Memories storage starting next year. The company says free storage will be capped at 5GB, requiring users who exceed the limit to subscribe to new storage plans.
The entry-level plan offers 100GB of storage for $1.99 per month. Snapchat+ subscribers receive up to 250GB as part of a $3.99 monthly subscription, while Snapchat Platinum users get up to 5TB for $15.99 per month.
