Deepika Padukone has finally replied to the audience provoking her for not reacting or even appreciating her husband Ranveer Singh's performance in Dhurandhar The Revenge. She received a lot of backlash when all the Bollywood was praising Singh's performance in the film, even to the extent where she was being compared to Bollywood actor Yami Gautam praising her husband, Dhurandhar's director Aditya Dhar.
But the question is, was she pushed to react? Wasn't it her choice whether and how she should put it out on social media or not?
Padukone has replied to a post where she has mentioned, 'I watched it way before you did,' breaking the silence on the audience her husband's latest released film. Despite the film’s massive box office success, she had not posted publicly about it, leading to widespread speculation. Social media users questioned her absence, with some even discussing the couple’s relationship status.
She was trolled for not being an ideal wife, or being the wife the audience want.
The conversation intensified when she skipped the film’s premiere and instead attended a sitar concert with her in-laws. This contrast between her absence from a major professional milestone and her presence at a personal outing became a focal point of online debate.
Deepika eventually responded to an Instagram reel that questioned her silence. The post suggested she had given the film the “silent treatment” despite its record-breaking performance and raised questions about whether her actions were intentional or overanalyzed.
Replying in the comments, she wrote, “The latter my friend… P.S. I watched it way before any of you did. Now who is the joke on?”. Her response made it clear that she viewed the speculation as unnecessary.
Following her comment, many users supported her, arguing that public validation is not required to show support in a relationship. Some suggested she may have avoided posting to keep the focus on Ranveer, while others pointed out that she could be prioritizing personal responsibilities, including caring for their child.
Others emphasized that not every aspect of a celebrity’s life needs to be shared online. Supporters argued that her private presence in Ranveer’s life is more meaningful than social media posts.
However, the scrutiny was partly fueled by comparisons to her behavior in the first Dhurandhar film. When the original movie was released in December 2025, Deepika publicly praised both the film and Ranveer’s performance on social media. Her decision not to do the same for the sequel led fans to question the change in approach.
The situation also reflects broader expectations within the film industry, where public displays of support between celebrity couples are often seen as part of their brand image. In this context, her silence stood out, especially as other celebrities openly praised the film.
The success of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, further amplified attention. The film, which also stars R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal, has achieved remarkable box office numbers, crossing over $193 million globally within 19 days.
Set in Lyari, Karachi, the story follows an Indian spy, Hamza Ali Mazari, played by Ranveer Singh, as he infiltrates a mafia network and conducts covert operations. The sequel expands on the origins of his character and incorporates several real-life events.
Ultimately, the situation raises the question of whether audiences were justified in expecting a public reaction from Deepika. While her silence drew attention due to the film’s scale and her past behavior, her response suggests that not every personal or professional connection needs to be expressed publicly.
