Vijay Deverakonda, one of Telugu cinema’s most beloved stars, turned 36 recently, and it was his rumoured girlfriend Rashmika Mandanna’s heartfelt birthday post that has everyone talking. Though neither actor has officially confirmed their relationship, their latest social media exchange is being seen as yet another breadcrumb in the ongoing buzz about their off-screen chemistry.
Taking to her Instagram Stories on May 9, Rashmika posted an adorable photo of Vijay Deverakonda flashing a warm smile at the camera. Dressed casually in an olive-green outfit and a beige beanie, Vijay also sported a red tika on his forehead, giving off peaceful and festive vibes. Alongside the photo, Rashmika penned, “I am super late yet again but happiesttttt birthday Viju,” accompanied by a white heart and flower emoji.
The use of “Viju,” her affectionate nickname for him, immediately caught fans’ attention. But it didn’t end there—she added, “I hope your days are filled with all the blessings and love, joy, health, wealth, peace, and everything else.” Vijay responded to the message by re-sharing it on his own Instagram Stories, calling it “Cutest” with a heart-face and red heart emoji. He also added, “May all your wishes and blessings come true!”
This warm and playful social media interaction comes on the heels of ongoing speculation about their relationship. Rashmika and Vijay have been rumored to be dating for years, having shared the screen in two hit films—Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. While both have openly spoken about being in relationships, they have never publicly acknowledged dating each other.

Speculation reached new heights last month during Rashmika’s 29th birthday. She posted serene vacation photos from a beach in Oman. Fans, ever watchful, quickly noticed the uncanny resemblance between her pictures and those posted by Vijay around the same time—identical white sand, blue umbrellas, and palm trees. The backdrop similarities convinced many that the duo celebrated her birthday together in Oman.
On the professional front, both stars have exciting projects lined up. Rashmika was recently seen in Sikandar opposite Salman Khan and will soon appear in Kuberaa, sharing the screen with Nagarjuna and Dhanush. She also stars in The Girlfriend and is set to feature in Maddock Films’ horror venture Thama, alongside Ayushmann Khurrana.
Vijay, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of Kingdom, a Telugu-language spy action thriller directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, co-starring Bhagyashri Borse and Satyadev. The film is slated for release on May 30. He’s also involved in a project tentatively titled VD 14.
Whether friends or something more, Rashmika and Vijay’s camaraderie continues to charm fans and stir the rumour mill. Is love in the air, or is this just another classic case of co-star chemistry? Time will tell.
