Aryan Khan’s first series took viewers into a fictional Bollywood where fame, money, rivalry and family connections rarely stay separate. Now, the Netflix series is reportedly heading back for a second season.
According to Variety India, filming for Season 2 is expected to begin in March 2027, with several of the main cast members expected to return. The report adds that the storyline and other details remain under wraps.
For viewers in India and across the global Indian diaspora, the return is significant because the series offered a satirical take on an industry that has become increasingly global. Bollywood is no longer consumed only in Mumbai or across India. Its stars, films and behind-the-scenes culture have a substantial audience in the US, UK and other international markets.
Season 2 could therefore give overseas viewers another chance to see the industry and its contradictions, played out through comedy and drama.
Who could return?
The first season starred Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal and Anya Singh.
The Variety India report says familiar faces are expected to return for the second season, including Lakshya as Aasmaan Singh, Sahher Bambba as Karishma Talvar, Bobby Deol as Ajay Talvar, Raghav Juyal as Parvaiz and Anya Singh as Sanya. Mona Singh, Manoj Pahwa, Manish Chaudhari and Rajat Bedi are also expected to reprise their characters. The return of the main characters matters because the first season left their stories in a dramatically unsettled place.
At the center was Aasmaan Singh, an aspiring actor trying to find his place in the Hindi film industry. His career rises as he becomes caught between professional rivalries and his relationship with Karishma Talvar, the daughter of superstar Ajay Talvar.
Aryan Khan’s first chapter
The series marked Khan’s debut as a writer and director. He created and directed the show and co-wrote it with Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan. His mother, Gauri Khan, produced the series under Red Chillies Entertainment.
The seven-episode first season premiered on Netflix on September 18, 2025.
Rather than presenting Bollywood as an entirely glamorous world, the series leaned into its messier side. Its mix of satire, comedy, drama and action explored the pressures surrounding actors and the machinery behind the film industry.
Why Season 2 could be different
The first season ended with Aasmaan and Karishma attempting to elope with Parvaiz's help, while Ajay pursued them. A major revelation in the finale then opened up a new direction for the story.
That gives Season 2 plenty to build on without having to start from scratch.
For audiences familiar with Hindi cinema, the appeal is likely to come from watching the characters navigate an industry they are already deeply connected to. But there is still plenty that is unknown.
The report does not reveal the Season 2 storyline, and the production details remain limited. Earlier comments from writer Bilal Siddiqi had suggested another season was being considered, but an official renewal had not been publicly confirmed at that stage.
What fans know so far
For now, the clearest update is the reported March 2027 filming schedule and the expected return of the show's core cast.
That leaves the biggest questions unanswered: Will Aasmaan and Karishma's story continue from the finale? What happens to Ajay Talvar after the revelations of Season 1? And will Khan take the satire even further in his second outing?
Those answers will have to wait.
What is clear is that The Ba***ds of Bollywood* has another chapter ahead. For a series built around the idea of exposing what sits behind Bollywood's polished image, Season 2 could have plenty more industry drama to play with, both on screen and within its fictional version of the Hindi film world.
