- Kajol suggests marriages should come with an expiry and renewal option on a talk show segment
- Ajay Devgn, in a separate interview, says the word “love” has become overused
- Both actors reflect on how modern relationships differ from earlier generations
Kajol’s take on marriage stirs conversation
Kajol triggered a fresh debate around marital expectations during a segment of Two Much with Twinkle and Kajol. Asked whether marriage should have an expiry date with the possibility of renewal, she agreed without hesitation. Twinkle Khanna, Vicky Kaushal, and Kriti Sanon remained on the opposing side of the discussion, but Kajol maintained that such a concept would prevent people from feeling trapped in relationships that no longer work.
She added that couples often enter marriage without knowing if it is the “right person at the right time,” and a renewal clause could bring clarity rather than prolonged unhappiness.
Ajay Devgn’s view: “love has become casual”
Around the same time, Ajay Devgn addressed how he believes the meaning of “love” has shifted across generations. Speaking with R Madhavan in a BookMyShow interview while promoting De De Pyaar De 2, he said the word is now used so freely that it has lost depth.
He noted that in his youth, saying “I love you” carried weight, whereas today it appears in everyday messages, often reduced to emojis and routine sign-offs. Madhavan echoed the sentiment, remarking that even signing a card with “love” required thought and sincerity decades ago.

A couple accustomed to public curiosity
Kajol and Ajay Devgn have long been one of Bollywood’s most recognisable partnerships. They met during the filming of Hulchul in 1995, began dating soon after, and married in February 1999 in a low-key ceremony. Their on-screen collaborations include Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Raju Chacha, and Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.
Parents to Nysa and Yug, the pair have spoken over the years about navigating fame, family life, and a relationship built on understanding, making their recent comments on marriage and modern love all the more attention-grabbing.
