Rapper Kid Cudi appeared at a New York City courthouse on May 22 to testify in the high-profile federal trial of Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, who is facing charges including sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and promoting prostitution.

The testimony comes amid shocking allegations, including claims that Diddy threatened to blow up Kid Cudi’s car over the rapper’s connection to Diddy’s former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.

Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, arrived at the Manhattan courthouse in a black SUV, casually dressed in a black leather jacket, white T-shirt, and light-wash jeans. Surrounded by U.S. Marshals and Homeland Security agents, the rapper was seen puffing on a cigarette as he entered the courtroom.

Cudi’s name first surfaced in this legal saga through the emotional testimony of singer Cassie, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, who spent four days on the witness stand detailing an abusive and manipulative relationship with the music mogul.

Cassie recounted a chilling moment when Diddy became “irate” after reading an email she had sent to Kid Cudi while the two were romantically linked during a break in her relationship with Diddy.

According to Cassie, Diddy not only lashed out at her physically—allegedly lunging at her with a bottle opener—but also threatened to harm Kid Cudi. “He told me about videos that he had, and that he was going to hurt Scott and I,” Cassie stated on the stand, referencing footage reportedly taken during one of Diddy’s infamous “freak-off” parties. She also claimed in an email to her mother that Diddy had expressed violent intentions toward Cudi.

These threats reportedly culminated in a disturbing incident in 2012. Cassie’s civil lawsuit, filed in November 2023 and settled just a day later, included the allegation that Diddy had vowed to blow up Kid Cudi’s car.

“During Paris Fashion Week in February 2012, Mr. Combs told Ms. Ventura that they were going to blow up Kid Cudi’s car,” the complaint reads. “Around that time, Cudi’s car exploded in his driveway.”

Following this event, a tense meeting reportedly took place between Diddy, Cassie, and Kid Cudi. When Cudi directly asked Diddy about the incident, Diddy allegedly responded, “What vehicle?” before abruptly ending the conversation. A spokesperson for Kid Cudi later confirmed to The New York Times that “this is all true.”

Diddy, who is currently battling five federal charges across three indictments, has pleaded not guilty and strongly denied all allegations, including those made in Cassie’s civil complaint.
