Nick Jonas proves that he is full desi and more Indian than Priyanka Chopra

Nick Jonas may have been born and raised in America, but eight years with Priyanka Chopra have turned him into an Indian culture enthusiast from ordering elaborate desi meals and celebrating Holi to secretly following Bollywood gossip.

Nick Jonas proves that he is full desi and more Indian than Priyanka Chopra

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas (L) and her husband American singer-songwriter and actor Nick Jonas (R) pose for photos as they arrive to attend the wedding ceremony of billionaire tycoon and Chairman of Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani's son Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Mumbai on July 12, 2024. Socialite sisters Kim and Khloe Kardashian were among the global celebrities spotted in India on July 12 to attend a lavish three-day wedding ceremony staged by Asia's richest man Mukesh Ambani.

Nick Jonas may have grown up in America, but after eight years of marriage to Priyanka Chopra, it seems he has picked up more than just a few Indian habits. From his food preferences to his fascination with Bollywood drama, Nick has fully embraced parts of Indian culture, so much so that he might occasionally seem more desi than his Indian superstar wife.

Nick revealed some of these details during an episode of his podcast Hey Jonas, where his brothers and Priyanka Chopra joined him as a guest. Throughout the conversation, Nick opened up about his love for Indian food, his experiences visiting India, and the one thing he has especially adopted from Priyanka: keeping up with Bollywood gossip.

Here are five moments that prove Nick Jonas has truly gone desi.

“We do a little butter chicken, of course…”

One of the biggest signs that Indian culture has become part of Nick’s everyday life is what you can find on his dining table. While discussing Indian food, Nick casually listed his regular order of dishes and it sounded like a classic Indian family feast.

“We do a little paneer, right?” Nick said, before adding, “We do a little butter chicken, of course. Do a lamb biryani. We do naan, of course. Raita, some pickle, of course, rice.”

The way he described the meal made it clear this was not an occasional experience but a familiar routine. Calling it “our basic order,” Nick showed that Indian cuisine has become a regular part of their household.

“My husband does order for 20 people even if it’s for two”

Nick’s love for Indian food is not limited to knowing the names of dishes, he also appears to have adopted the classic Indian habit of ordering far more food than necessary.

After Nick explained their usual Indian food order, Priyanka jokingly pointed out his generous approach to meals, saying, “My husband does order for 20 people even if it’s for two.”

Nick also explained that their order is “kind of a lot, big for the table. It’s always for the table.” For him, an Indian meal is clearly meant to be shared, with multiple dishes arriving together and everyone enjoying a little bit of everything.

“Going to India with Priyanka Chopra was unbelievable”

Nick’s connection with India deepened after experiencing the country with Priyanka. Talking about travelling there, he described it as a completely unforgettable experience.

“Well, it’s an incredible place. It’s pretty special,” Nick said. He added that seeing India through Priyanka’s eyes was something unique: “I’ve done some really cool things in my life, but going to India with Priyanka Chopra was unbelievable.”

He was especially amazed by the way fans welcomed Priyanka, saying, “It was the closest thing to royalty.” Nick also noted that the love Indian audiences have for film stars is unlike anything he had seen elsewhere.

“Nick hosted a Holi party at home without me”

Nick’s connection with Indian culture goes beyond food and travel — he has also embraced Indian festivals and traditions inside his own home.

Priyanka revealed one of the most surprising examples during the conversation: Nick once hosted a Holi celebration for their friends even when she was not there.

“Nick hosted a party at home for Holi without me with all the colors… friends over, the food, the menu,” Priyanka shared.

The fact that Nick organized a traditional Holi gathering on his own shows how deeply Indian celebrations have become part of their family life. From arranging the colors to planning the food and bringing friends together, Nick appears to have taken ownership of a festival that is a major part of Indian culture.

For someone who did not grow up celebrating Holi, embracing the festival so naturally is another sign of how much of Priyanka’s world he has made his own.

“I love the gossip. I need all the gossip”

Perhaps the most entertaining sign of Nick’s desi transformation is his obsession with Bollywood gossip. While Priyanka may be the Bollywood insider in the relationship, Nick has clearly become a fan of the industry’s behind-the-scenes stories.

“One of the things that I’ve loved most about these eight years together is all the Bollywood gossip I’ve gotten,” he admitted.

Nick revealed that he even follows certain gossip accounts privately, saying, “There’s a couple accounts that I kind of ghost follow. I’m not going to say which ones.”

He added, “There’s some good tea though,” and explained that he enjoys following the complicated storylines involving actors, directors and writers. “It’s a whole thing that I’ve really come to love,” he said.

From Indian food orders to Bollywood tea, Nick Jonas has clearly absorbed a big part of Priyanka’s world, and in some ways, he might be the more enthusiastic desi in the relationship.
