Ramgarhia Youth Forum distributes overnight kits to NHS workers in Hillingdon

By: Aswathy P

London-based NGO Ramgarhia Youth Forum (RYF) has taken up a mission to provide essential kits based on requirements of NHS workers.

It started off with an interaction between RYF director Danny Bhambra and Hillingdon hospital authorities, who informed him about shortage of toiletries and supplies for staff staying overnight in the vicinity.

“We got straight onto the case and chased up friends, family and colleagues to raise funds for 60 overnight kits,” said Bhambra, who personally delivered the bags.

“I’ve a growing list of potential donors. I think it’s most important to check with each hospital to see what resources they need.”

Bhambra noted that, in some areas, hospitals were receiving heavy donations but still had urgent requirements such as the overnight kits.

The RYF — which promotes awareness of community spirit through education, spirituality and sports — is now contacting hospitals and making lists of their staff’s specific needs.

The forum had recently received praise for organising an Under-12 football tournament in Hillingdon to promote “community cohesion”.

Labour MP Virendra Sharma had described it as a remarkable event for the “spirit of West London”.

He had also assured RYF support “to develop future national role models”.

Businessman Paul Riat, OBE, had lauded RYF for using sports to “develop community cohesion”, highlighting its objective of bringing together people of different backgrounds and cultures.

“These are the teachings of our gurus, to reach out to all faiths, religions and cultural backgrounds.”
