Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor says working on Ramayana changed his life and helped him become a better father to his daughter, Raha Kapoor.

The actor is preparing for the release of the upcoming film, where he will play the role of Lord Rama. In an interview with Top Magazine, Ranbir spoke about the emotional and personal impact the project had on him.

Ranbir said he was unsure in the beginning about taking on such an important role. He questioned whether he was worthy enough to play Lord Rama. Over time, those feelings changed, and he became deeply connected to the film and its message.

He said, “I understood not that it would be something like a career-defining move for me, but it was definitely life-defining, you know, it changed my life. It got me closer to understanding the Ramayana, to understanding Lord Rama’s journey. I think it made so many positive changes in my life. You know, my bad habits changed, it changed my value system, the way I look at life, the way I look at loss, the way I look at sacrifice, the way I look at Dharma, and I think I really needed that in my life.”

The actor also shared that becoming a father and working on Ramayana happened at the same time in his life. He said the two experiences felt deeply connected.

He added, “It was such a sweet coincidence in my life. Raha made me a better person and Ramayana wanted me to be a better person for Raha, so everything was connected. Like I said, I was at the right place at the right time when a film of this magnitude was being made on our truth, on our culture, on our history in the most authentic way. It was just a blessing and I’m going to be grateful for all my life.”

Ranbir and his wife, Alia Bhatt, welcomed Raha in 2022. In 2023, the couple introduced their daughter to photographers and fans during Christmas celebrations. Photos of Raha quickly became popular online.

Later, the couple decided not to share Raha’s face often on social media. However, they continue to talk about parenthood and occasionally share moments from their family life.

Ramayana is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Yash and Namit Malhotra. The film also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.

The film is being made on a budget of $465-470 million. It will be released in two parts. The first part is scheduled for Diwali 2026, while the second part is planned for Diwali 2027.
