Sydney Sweeney gave fans a glimpse of a very different look this week, trading her signature blonde hair for a shaggy brunette style. But the transformation came with an unexpected twist: it was all thanks to a wig and a spontaneous suggestion from a friend.

On October 14, the 29-year-old actress shared photos from a sunny day out at Pacific Park in Santa Monica, California. Her new look featured shoulder-length brunette hair with full bangs, giving her a noticeably different appearance.

“When ur bestie shows up and says ‘here put this wig on’ 😂🥰,” Sweeney captioned the Instagram post, explaining how the makeover came about.

Sweeney kept her outfit relaxed for the outing, wearing a white T-shirt featuring purple palm trees and the words “Santa Monica,” high-rise denim shorts, white sneakers, sunglasses and diamond stud earrings.

Along with photos of her brunette look, the actress shared glimpses of her day at the amusement park, including chicken tenders and fries and video clips of herself riding roller coasters.

The outing also brought back memories of Sweeney’s early career. In a 2023 interview with Women’s Health, she spoke about working as a tour guide at Universal Studios while pursuing acting.

“It was hard because [my parents] were supporting my dream, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else,” she said. “I didn’t want to fail them. No matter how long it took, I was going to be in a TV show or a movie, and I wasn’t going to stop until something happened.”

The Hollywood Reporter later reported that she worked at Universal Studios briefly, from June to July 2016.

Sydney Sweeney recently showed off a different look

The brunette wig comes weeks after Sweeney showcased her signature blonde hair in a campaign for her lingerie brand, Syrn.

On September 30, she modeled the brand’s Meet Me Halfway plunge bra in the shade Babe, pairing it with matching loungewear shorts and a cropped cardigan. Her blonde hair was styled in voluminous curls, complemented by soft pink makeup.

“This is my new collection, ‘Send Nudes,’” she said in a video shared on Syrn’s Instagram. “I always felt like nude bras were kinda boring, and so I wanted to make something super cute and playful and girly… Super cute, right?”

While the brunette look was only a temporary change, Sweeney’s latest photos offered fans a playful glimpse of the actress experimenting with a different style.
