Carlos Alcaraz, the current world No.1 tennis player has expressed a desire to play alongside giants Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The two legends, will not meet each other on a tour again, thanks to Federer’s recent retirement from the game, but there is a possibility of the duo locking horns over yet another ‘Fedal’ classic in an exhibition game.

The Santiago Bernabeu, where Nadal is often seen for team matches, is planning to host a game between the two iconic players as a tribute to their rivalry. Federer and Nadal are part of the triumvirate of modern-day tennis which also includes Novak Djokovic.

Alcaraz, who is also a Spaniard like Nadal, hopes to be part of the mouth-watering episode. The 19-year-old, who won the US Open recently as his maiden Grand Slam title, is thrilled by the idea of playing Nadal at the popular venue which has been recently renovated.

Speaking in a recent interview with COPE during his Davis Cup games in Valencia, the youngster expressed his ideas about the possibility of playing alongside Federer and Nadal at the Bernabeu.

Alcaraz, who won a series of marathon games towards the business end of the US Open to clinch the title, went straight to play in Davis Cup and said he did not have time to reflect on the highest point of his career till now.

“We have not yet assimilated what has happened because from New York I have gone directly to the Davis Cup. I still haven’t stopped to think about what I’ve done and what needs to be improved in the future. Arriving is complicated, staying even more,” he said.

He also reiterated the importance of his coach and former world No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero in his life and career.

“Juan Carlos has been very important to me, he has experienced everything that I am experiencing now. It is easier for him to give me advice and at the same time this is very important,” Alcaraz said.
