Bollywood icon Katrina Kaif has been officially named the global brand ambassador for Maldives tourism, the island nation’s marketing and public relations department announced this week. Described as a “globally recognised icon, a distinguished performer, and an award-winning entrepreneur,” Kaif’s appointment is set to amplify the Maldives’ global presence and appeal to luxury travelers worldwide.
Reacting to the announcement, Katrina Kaif expressed her excitement and honor at being chosen as the face of the Maldives’ new tourism campaign. “The Maldives represents the pinnacle of luxury and natural beauty — a place where elegance meets tranquillity,” she said. Kaif added that her collaboration with the Maldives aims to offer “the finest travel experiences” and inspire visitors to “discover the unique charm and world-class offerings” of the island paradise.

The Maldives’ tourism board emphasized Kaif’s far-reaching influence, noting her celebrated career in Indian cinema and her ability to connect with audiences across continents. “Her vibrant personality and strong connection with audiences worldwide make her a perfect representative for the Sunny Side of Life,” said Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives.
This high-profile appointment comes just a month before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the Maldives, marking a significant moment in diplomatic relations between the two countries. The move is seen as a gesture of goodwill and renewed cultural exchange, especially after a period of diplomatic tension earlier last year.
The Maldives, renowned for its turquoise waters, white-sand beaches, and luxury resorts, has already welcomed one million tourists as of June 7, 2025. With Katrina Kaif as its global ambassador, the island nation hopes to further boost its reputation as a premier travel destination for discerning tourists from India and around the world.
Kaif’s star power and global appeal are expected to draw even more travelers to the Maldives, reinforcing its status as the ultimate destination for luxury, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences.
