According to her father, Joshua Hottle, Kaylee was involved in a serious crash early Tuesday morning. Speaking during an emotional social media livestream in American Sign Language (ASL), he shared that he had traveled from Texas to Maryland after receiving the devastating news.
Joshua said authorities first informed him that Kaylee had been involved in a serious accident before later confirming that "her heart stopped on the way to the hospital." He also explained that he had to fly to Maryland to claim his daughter's body.
Although millions of moviegoers recognized Hottle as Jia, the deaf girl who forms a unique bond with King Kong through sign language, her journey into acting began years before Hollywood came calling.
