Killer of Sarabjit Singh, Indian prisoner in Pakistan, shot dead by gunmen In Lahore: report

Singh died of a heart attack at a hospital in Lahore after being in a coma for nearly a week following a brutal assault by inmates inside a high-security jail.

AMIR Sarfaraz Tamba, a suspect in the murder of Indian death row prisoner Sarabjit Singh in Pakistan, and reportedly linked with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit co-founder Hafiz Sayeed, the mastermind behind the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai, was fatally shot by unidentified gunmen in Lahore on Sunday (14), as per official sources.

Tamba was targeted by assailants riding motorcycles in the Islampura area of the Pakistani city. Despite being rushed to a hospital in critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries, the officials reported.

Singh was 40 when he died of a heart attack in Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital on May 2, 2013, after being in a coma for nearly a week following a brutal assault by inmates, including Tamba, inside Lahore’s high-security Kot Lakhpat jail.

Tamba was born in Lahore in 1979 and was a close associate of Sayeed.

He was allegedly found guilty of taking part in several bombings in Pakistan’s Punjab province in 1990 and was given the death penalty. The case involving Singh saw a prolonged diplomatic clash between the two neighbours till his death which led to furious reactions from the Indian side.
