My Pod With Nikita Kanda

Nikita Kanda.

By: Radhakrishna NS

TALENTED host Nikita Kanda recently became the new drive time presenter on Asian Star Radio and lights up the airwaves weekdays between 4-7pm.

She provides entertainment, plays the biggest hits and shares breaking news stories on the popular show. Eastern Eye got her to select 10 songs she loves right now.

Karde Haan by Rameet Sandhu: The talented singer is demolishing barriers and smashing through glass ceilings at a time there aren’t too many British Asian females breaking through. So we all definitely have to support the females out there doing their thing and being fierce like Rameet.

Yarri Yeah by Mickey Singh Ft Nani (Anjali): Another artist pushing boundaries and going outside of the normal Punjabi artist horizons, Mickey Singh is doing so well at the moment. I like the fusion of this song, which is definitely something you can dance too.

Nachna Ni Ohnda by PBN Ft Jolie: Of course, PBN is the king of the dance tracks, so I had to include something by him. This is another brilliant feel-good song from the hit-maker, which adds to his amazing collection.

Tohar by Nimrat Khaira: I just love Nimrat’s voice in this song as it really shows off her versatility. Again, this is another fabulous female doing her thing, so deserves maximum support.

Diamond by Gurnam Bhullar: One of the biggest songs of 2018 has clocked up over 300 million views on YouTube for a good reason. This is a song you can listen to over and over again, and just love.

Kylie + Kareena by Diljit Dosanjh: The Punjabi singing sensation is one of my favourite artists. He is extremely talented and every song he releases just seems to do so well, whether it’s a full-on Punjabi track or something a bit more r’n’b like this recently released track. I like how Diljit is pushing boundaries and not staying in the lane of a typical Punjabi singer. He keeps showing how versatile and modern he is.

Slowly Slowly by Guru Randhawa Ft Pitbull: A sign of how extremely well Guru is doing is this big international collaboration with Pitbull, which is so different and so needed for the music scene. Mixing Punjab and Cuba together really works, so we need more of it.

Miss Karda by Jazzy B: All I have to say is how can anyone not like this song? I have got this song on repeat in my car.

Nakhra by Jenny Johal: A great song by someone I think is a very underrated artist. Jenny Johal is a brilliant singer and I love this song by her. It is a feel-good girls song.

Sip Sip by Jasmine Sandlas: One of the biggest songs of recent years. Pure girl power, Jasmine has taken over the Punjabi music scene and changed it.
