Ranbir’s career is becoming a franchise machine
Ranbir Kapoor is in the middle of one of the busiest phases of his career, but what stands out even more is the kind of films he is choosing.
He is currently shooting Ramayana and Love & War, both expected to wrap by October 2026. After that, reports suggest he wants to sign one more film before beginning Animal Park at the end of 2027. That next project could reportedly be either Brahmastra 2 or Dhoom 4.
What makes that decision notable is that both films continue a growing pattern in Ranbir’s career: betting on large-scale franchises instead of standalone projects.
Brahmastra 2 and Dhoom 4 offer two different blockbuster paths
According to reports, Ranbir has heard ideas for both films and is interested in the worlds they are building. Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra 2 would expand an existing fantasy universe that already has audience recognition. Meanwhile, Yash Raj Films’s Dhoom 4 offers a chance to lead one of Bollywood’s biggest action franchises.
He is reportedly waiting for completed scripts before making a final decision.
Both projects are facing delays
Neither film is fully locked yet. Dhoom 4 is still searching for a director, according to reports.
At the same time, Brahmastra 2 is reportedly dealing with casting changes after Deepika Padukone was linked to the role of Amrita before reports suggested the team may now be exploring other options. Ranbir is expected to have more clarity by June.
Then comes Animal Park
Even if he signs another film first, Animal Park remains one of the biggest projects on his slate. Reports suggest Sandeep Reddy Vanga plans to begin production by late 2027 and has already held multiple discussions with the actor.
With Ramayana, Animal Park, Brahmastra 2 and potentially Dhoom 4 all in play, Ranbir is increasingly positioning himself at the centre of Bollywood’s biggest franchise universe race.
