IN a move opening its doors to international tourists for the first time, the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) has partnered with Brightsun Travel, the UK, and the decision is aimed at promoting the Middle-eastern kingdom to the UK market as well.

Under their tie-up, STA and Brightsun Travel will launch a multi-channel marketing campaign showcasing the incredible holidays that travellers from the UK can spend in Saudi Arabia.

The visits to discover Saudi can range from cultural and historical expeditions to gastronomical discoveries to the Arabian desert and Red Sea adventures.

Brightsun Travel has had a historical relationship with Saudi Arabia in promoting pilgrimages as part of the growing ‘halal’ tourism sector.

STA chief executive officer Abdullah Ibrahim Alhagbani and Brightsun Travel managing director Deepak Nangla signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at 2021 World Travel Market on Monday (1), signalling a kickstart to tourism from the UK to Saudi Arabia.

Remarking on Saudi Arabia’s opening its borders to tourists, Nangla said, “As the travel industry starts to recover from the pandemic, there could not be a better time for Saudi Arabia to showcase its historic part and its bold new future.

“Saudi Arabia is a hidden gem in the Middle East, and we are proud to be associated with its unveiling over the next few years. We anticipate that the UK will make a significant contribution to tourism numbers in Saudi over the next decade, in line with the Saudi Arabia 2030 vision.”

The campaign will include a chance to enter a consumer competition with a once-in-a-lifetime prize of a luxury 5-star twin-centre holiday for two people, a national TV advertising campaign showcasing breath-taking landscapes, ancient natural beauty and sports and diving adventures that are now available to explore.

Brightsun Travel will also promote exciting offers across various platforms to suit both budget or luxury holidays and stop-overs and multi-centre trips within Saudi Arabia.
On the occasion of signing the MoU, Alhagbani, said: “We see this partnership as the beginning of a long and successful journey.”
